Search Engine Marketing Done Right - PPC Mastery

Search Engine Marketing or SEM can be divided into two main categories: Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Pay Per Click (PPC). Internet marketing and online businesses generally focus on one of these two categories. The vast majority of internet businesses will never attempt to use both methods of internet marketing. The reason why not to do is very simple.

It takes a lot of time and effort to master only one of these categories. Mastering both at the same time would be a Herculean feat. The mistake that marketers make when they choose to ignore a traffic tactics that generate these is that they themselves cut off by a large percentage of their potential customers. Worse still are being cut from these customers unnecessarily.

We see no need to strive to control both of these techniques at the same time. Choose one, learn, make it profitable and then start learning the second. There are so involved in what they forget all else.

If you choose to start with PPC as a method of generating traffic before then there are some things you need to pay attention. First is your keyword research. You want to avoid the more competitive keywords out there, if you can. With Pay Per Click your main goal will be to position yourself in one of the top 3 ad positions. This can be incredibly difficult to do with competitive keywords. Also there is a direct relationship between a keyword and competitive initial cost per click (CPC). In general, the more competitive a keyword is the more you pay for your ad in the first place.

Another thing you should consider PPC is developing a good way to track your ads, keywords, landing pages and conversions. This may sound complicated, but if not carefully keep track of all the results you will never be able to optimize your ads and this will cost you a lot of money at the end.

With the PPC, if you use Google AdWords, you should be more concerned with the quality score. Maintaining a high quality score is the best thing you can do to reduce your CPC. If you want to maintain a high quality score is necessary to maintain a high Click Through Rate (CTR). To do this, simply follow the above recommendation: Track, Test, and optimization....
