Diamonds, A World Unknown

Diamonds attracts admiration by some and hate others. In most cases neither one nor the other know why.

In recent years there have been many who have tried to damage the image of diamonds, many published articles that have utterly absurd as a result of so-called "blood diamonds", and much more after the movie of the same name. But what is truth and a lie all this in thousands of media for the length and breadth of the world?.

Indeed Africa to rise to conflicting thoughts. One of the most beautiful continents exist yet the poorest continent today. Wars for power in many countries of this continent have been genuine atrocities at the sight of any human being with a minimum sensitivity. In recent decades, Angola, Sierra Leone and other countries have experienced real genocide. Countries these are rich in gold and diamond. But this wealth never reaches the common people, it is in most cases in the hands of the powerful. But the problem is not in the heartless exploitation of these goods to Western countries, because they had had the wealth that used to their advantage and benefit of the people never. If instead of producing diamonds were rich in any other type of property (wood, coffee ..... etc.) Act the same way. The sad thing is that there are other countries producing these goods (gold and diamonds) have been thugs who bought diamonds in countries where weapons were financed through the sale of this source of wealth. But do not forget those who buy a diamond in an establishment are convinced that they come from countries where production is completely legal in the eyes of the UN and all international organizations.

Unfortunately in life there is always one who tries to take advantage of poverty, and that has happened until a few years in this world of the diamond. As happens with the drug, if cocaine is well used is an awesome source of benefits in medicine, but heartless use it for other purposes becomes mortal.

Since many years ago as the terrible consequences of existing wars, the UN established a ban on all exports of rough diamonds from Angola and Sierra Leone. This prohibition was jumped multiple times, because of that call was established in Kimberly certificate, which guarantees that the rough diamonds that reach different pockets of the world diamond NOT come from countries in conflict. The European Community acceded to it in 2003 and came into force that year, so in Antwerp (main diamond exchange in the world) all rough diamond that comes free from suspicion, and there are closely monitored by the authorities for the total and absolute compliance with this rule.

The diamonds have very specific characteristics, being used in jewelry but also in other sectors of productive industry. Many fields in which diamonds are used. A diamond is worthy to be admired and used as deemed best. But (and despite the wars ended) we must not allow so valuable a commodity to be used for purposes that are not for nature created them.
